FS, Japanese gearbox/speedo sensor. Used to send pulses to your rally tripmeter from the speedo cable on a Japanese car. $50 Cdn. Works flawlessly, but I've got a VW now, so not needed.

How would that sensor compare to the sensor that I have on the drive shaft?

The one on your driveshaft. . . you own! : )

I aint no sensor expert, but yhey both send pulses to the 'box' on the dash. They both use some magnetic principle (proximity or actual magnets). Anyway, the "Jap sensor" goes between the gearbox and the speedo. It runs off the final drive ratio, and if you spin the front wheels (FWD) the odo clicks up extra milieage. I haven't found it too much a poroblem on TSD's, even in winter. Anyway, I don't zero much on those, and if the odo goes off too much I just dial in the correct mileage when I can. If you run off a wheel sensor, an undriven wheel, the slippage is a lot less a problem.

One thing I like about the Jap speedo cable sensor I used is that it's well protected from the elements, and was totally reliable. Never missed a pulse.

I have to go to a rear wheel sensor now (no cruise control - that would send pulses, too).
