Title: Summer Tires for nav. rallying
Post by nhibbert on 01/21/4 at 09:15:35

How well do summer tires work for navigational rallies (i.e. gravel, rough roads)?

I am researching tires to put on my car this spring. Currently, I'm on winter tires. I've narrowed my choices down to a number of summer tires, leading the pack are the Firehawk SZ50ep because of their superior wet handling charactistics. But, I want to get involved in rallying this summer and I'm not sure how well summer-only tire work on gravel. Should I consider all-seasons? Any suggestions?

Hey :) I find that summer tires with shallow tread patterns and large tread blocks tend to be squirrelish on the loose stuff, a decent all-season works really well for me, even winter tires but you'll wear them out in no time

take care

All seasons, or cheap SNOW tires (e.g. hard, not premium winter tires) if you're on a lot of gravel, but you'll lose some grip on pavement with the snows, so beware. Well, that's what I've learned.
