Guelph, Ontario -- The upcoming Rally of the Tall Pines, final round of the Ontario and Canadian Rally Championship, is the capstone event of a successful debut season for the Guelph-based Planet Motorsport Rally Team.  The team has clinched the Ontario novice championship and is aiming for the National novice and Ontario Production 4 (P4) titles at their home event.

Over 160 grueling kilometers of special stages await the team at Tall Pines.  The roads are both technical and fast, and the traditionally unpredictable weather adds an extra challenge.  “We can expect to see ice, snow and dry gravel throughout the event.  The surface can even change from corner to corner,” explained driver John Vanos.  “Tire selection is critical, but our experience at winter and summer events earlier in the year will help us make the right choice.”

The team has made extensive preparations for Tall Pines.  “We’re bringing the whole tire arsenal to Bancroft,” said team mechanic Erik Ockwell.  “The car’s handling problems that afflicted it at the last event have been cured, and the Hot Bits suspension is set to take on the jumps.  The car is ready!”

Regular co-driver Alan Ockwell will return to the navigator’s seat for Tall Pines.  “It’s great to be back with the team,” said Ockwell.  “Tall Pines is our favourite rally on the calendar.  Our whole season has been building towards this event.  We’re really excited!”

Come to Bancroft this weekend to see the rally and support the Planet Motorport team.  Spectator areas are free to all and concessions are available.  Show your support and cheer them on!
