Tibor
I missed most of your "incident". I was still looking in my viewfinder when I heard the first bump.

Any pics of car 41?

Tom, I'm having trouble getting into your site.  Your home page comes up with lots of missing pictures and no hyperlinks.

Since other people here seem to have no trouble, it looks like the problem's on my end.  Has anyone else had a similar problem?  How did you fix it?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff
I don't know why you are having problems, I know that Alan Ryall was having the same problem. The hyperlinks are hover buttons made with Front Page and it works well with both my Firefox and IE browsers. Here are the direct links to the Pines shots, bypassing my main page.

Anyone get a picture of my textbook Talon nosedive off that first big jump on Middle Hastings (A3 i believe)? ::)

Car #26, white eagle talon

That's one way to wreck a control arm bushing. Unfortunatley i had to take it easy for the rest of the day.  :(  I wanted to make sure i got a chance to test my new light pod

Thanks,
Phil

Got video of your spin at Iron Bridge, A5.

Unfortunately I got so excited, I forgot to keep looking through the viewfinder.  D'oh.  Amateur photographer...

I didn't do too bad there.  I've seen plenty of other cars go through there way slower than that before.
Thanks for the GG comment btw...  :o

I do what i can  :D Gotta keep the spectators entertained.

That was a bit of a despiration move. I came in WAY to hot.
I learned my lesson and did much better the 2nd time through.

it always seems that i do the silly stuff in front of the spectators. Like when i almost rolled at Galway.  ::)

which i don't have any pictures of either  :'(

Just this Justy shot.  That thing sounds like it's running on three cylinders, or less  ;D

Matt, I just realised what you were referring to with the GG comment.   :-X

That wasn't me!  Some other spectators standing behind me made the 'Grocery Getter' comment.  Your car is just too quiet.  It doesn't sound like a rally car.

Personally, I think that's cool.  Less stress level in the car that way and you can hear each other talking.

I think you guys are great!  You're an inspiration to all the wusses like me who wish they had the balls to get out and do what you're doing.

Am I reading those results correctly?  Did you guys not finish 3rd!!!? in P2 at Pines, in the process laying a spanking on some really big name teams who ended up with their cars broken or parked off in a swamp somewhere?

You're never gonna hear any denigrating 'Grocery Getter' comments from me.  I've got nothing but the utmost respect for the low budget teams who make it to the finish in one piece in a huge event like Tall Pines.

Hats off to you!

Hehe, no offense taken.  That's really what the car is!
Everyone says the car is too quiet.  Almost dangerously quiet, since you can't hear me coming around a corner.   :-/
We're just going out and doing the best we can with what we've got.   8)  Run what'cha brung I say!

We got 3rd P2, and 14th overall.  That's the exact result we set as a goal for ourselves.  I wanted to earn it through speed.  However, it was mostly due to various mistakes from other competitors.
It's impressive though, considering that our engine was dying, so I was driving the entire event at only 80-90% throttle, and shifting 2k below the redline in order to reach the finish.  So, it could have been better for us, but it could also have been much worse.

... and less mistakes made by you.

That seems to be the trick -- knowing how to tell the difference between taking stupid risks or going just fast enough.

Don't be putting yourselves down.  You guys are heroes!

Was this at the bridge?  It very well could have been some of the idiots I ended up travelling with to the rally.  Was one of them wearing a balaclava the entire time and had an Irish accent?  ::)

Anyways, I unfortunately haven't been able to see any of the videos posted on here because all the free video/picture sharing sites have been blocked at work, and dialup at home just doesn't cut it.  Is there any way someone could email me Phil's Talon spinout video?  It was the only part that people were talking about and I missed because I was at the other stage; admin@mreah.com.

Thanks a ton!
Overall a great Rally, and the snow definitely added to the fun!

Putting ourselves down?  Never!  We're the best!  We could beat anybody, anyday!  Boo-Ya!   :P

It's just our car that's a POS.  It's record so far: 3 rallies, 3 crippling mechanical failures.  But amazingly only 1 dnf.
All other competitors will rue the day which we can afford a car capable of finishing a rally in one piece!  Muh-wuh-ha-ha!    :o

This year was my first year ever watching a live rally race, I have watched many on tv but never live.  I was more inspiried by the guys doing it with the low budget cars, that dont drive by at 100km/h+ cause that inspires me.  I would love to get a low budget car and get it ready to rally, but I need to get some more seat time.  I would love to do the Pines next year, but we will have to see if I can make it.  I am planning on doing some Nav-ex's and drive-ex's to get experience and practice, I am also doing ice racing this winter to learn some car control.  But to get back to my original train of thought, you guys with the low budget cars are my inspiration.  Everyone did an awsome job!!

Wedge, a huge congrats to you and your co-driver for third in P2 at the Pines! Even though your car wasn't exactly cooperating for you, you got to live the experience and that's worth a LOT! Well done, guys!  ;D

I'm glad we could be inspirational.  It wasn't very long ago, that we were the spectators cheering the cars along, wishing we could be part of that someday.  Now at our first Pines, we're not just doing it, but we're actually being cheered on.  I couldn't hear it, but I'm told we got some big cheers at Castledine's Corner.
That's a success story if I've ever heard one.

If you want to learn car control, then ice racing is a great way.  I did several of those events last year.  Lots of fun too ;D

I spectated then worked TP for years.  Driving Iron Bridge DURING the event with numbers on the doors (#34), helmets etc. and then realizing those spectators were looking at us was wonderful.  I keep being surprised that I'm looking out of the car after looking in for so long.  Any pix would be appreciated as they would help confirm that we were really not in a dream   :)
