Post by FWEIDNER on 06/08/6 at 06:47:19

Update June 8, 06

Have two facilities lined up.  Intial outlook looks good.

Barrie facility - 45 minutes from toronto
                  - dirt track with some low terrain features
                     about 1.7 km
                  - gravel track -about 1.5 km loop
                  - track almost ready to go

Fenelon Falls - 2hrs from Toronto
                  -  3 loops, 6 km total ready in about 2 months - must be smoothed out for cars
                   - gravel + some dirt
                    - 20 km private logging roads for winter events - will have packed down snow and groomed for rally use

More updates to follow .....

A few years ago, I asked if there was any interest in holding a rallycross event a little closer to the GTA, just outside of Brantford.
After reading about some American rallycrosses on dirt,I had a few venues in mind, with both owners being pretty receptive, and willing to look at proposals. One had been previously used as a rallycross track by a club from Toronto (I don't know which club, but I think they were from Woodbridge).
Those who were in charge (of the rallycross) at the time told me, in so many words, to stop bugging them.
Later I was told that there were new, younger, and more open minded people in charge. By that time I was both put off, and busy with something else.
Would there be any interest in this now?
I would love to have access to another rallycross series. Although these both are dirt facilities, and not as ideal as Bancroft, I think that they might be workable.
There are also a bunch of quarries near me, in and around Waterford, between Simcoe, and Brantford.
Should I look into these?

We are always open to ideas for new venues.  If you are willing to approach the landowners and explain a little bit about what we would like to do, then we are all for it.

We're getting really close.

I'll have a detailed update soon.

I am very much interested in doing so.

Can offer help, time, etc.

I live in Peterborough, so, if you have someone in mind (landowners to approach), but can't spare time to drive up here, I can go and talk to them.

Let me know.

There are at least a few potential venues nearby (aside from the original 2 dirt sites), but I'm not really sure who to approach, and what to say when I do.
Perhaps I should talk to the orgainizers of the current events, and try to get an idea of what type of presentation might be apropriate.
OTOH, if these tracks go forward, will there be a need?
