Title: Videos Needed for 50th Celebration
Post by brynepp on 12/21/6 at 22:43:29

Videos Needed
The committee is looking for video (preferably of broadcast quality) that we could use for the 50th Celebration multimedia room.  In particular, we are looking for such memorabilia from the early years of the Canadian Rally Championship as well as any information on Canadian Rally before the start of the championship in 1957.  The celebration, while occasioned by the 50th anniversary of the CRC, will also celebrate our Canadian rally heritage.  We know there were many clubs across the country and many different rallies of various lengths.  We would like to know more.  We realize there must be a great deal of such memorabilia out there and we are anxious to ensure the history of Canadian Rally is gathered together and documented not only for the 50th celebration, but for the future.

We will strive to protect donated materials from harm and will return all loaned materials.  If you wish to donate your material, we will establish a way for it to become part of rally’s history and legacy.  We would prefer that all videos come to us in VHS or High quality MPG2 (DVD) formats.  If you are in the Greater Toronto Area, please contact Bryn Epp.  Otherwise, please send videos to the CARS office.

Hi Bryn,

I have a copy of some rally coverage and in particular the Tall Pines from around late 80s early 90s which was aired on CHCH 11 when I was a TV host back then. I believe Terry may have a copy, but if you want a copy, and on DVD, please let me know. If it is too recent, let me know. It's not as great as the modern covereage, but it shows a few rallyists of that era including Linda doing some service, Richard Sharpe, Interview with Terry, and of course the famous Tony Lee and Peter Gulliver's roll at Casteldine's Corner...

Let me know if you're interested.

Lawrence  Please get that to Bryn. I have been searching for my copy for a week. I know it here somewhere.

Thanks Pete! I haven't seen a roll at Castledine's quite as dramatic as yours in quite some time! I'll transfer it to DVD tonight and courier it to Bryn. I've been away from rallying for some time because of work keeping me in the US most of the time, but I am in the process of making a return to rallying.

By the way, if my former co-drivers, Gord Blanusa or Arek Wojcik reads this please respond. I'm trying to get in touch!

Lawrence

Just so there is no misunderstanding Tony Lee was the driver..

He was later given the name 'Roll'em Lee after he rolled myself, Eric Curtis and Greg James

When he went Ice racing we arranged for his number to be 377  Think about while standing on your head ;D
