Title: Importing street cars to the states Post by unggthat on 05/17/7 at 08:22:39 So I know many of you fellow rally folks have imported/exported cars. I am moving to Ohio in a few months and want to import my two Volvo 240's: a '79 242GT and an '86 240DL. The '86 came from Ohio 4 years ago when I imported it to Ontario. The '79 is a Canadian native. What is the easiest/cheapest/smallest headache way to get these cars imported to the States? Thanks for any advice. Nate Gundy |
Title: Re: Importing street cars to the states Post by DaveC on 05/18/7 at 10:05:16 Nate, here is a good place to start: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/quikover.htm I had a lot of people wanting my diesel Golf in the U.S., but when they looked at this site their interest cooled off really quick! |
Title: Re: Importing street cars to the states Post by unggthat on 05/19/7 at 17:19:11 Thanks Dave. So it LOOKS as if both my vehicles are exempt--the '86 is a US spec car meaning nothing needs to be done and the '79 is well over 21 years old, meaning it is exempt. Unless I'm reading something wrong. Hooray! Thanks again, Nate |
