Title: Seat Belt Cutters - Testing at Pines...
Post by dtompsett on 11/19/7 at 14:27:43

The discussion came up on the MCO forums about belt cutters. I have a couple sets of expires belts that I could sacrifice. If anyone is interested in doing some testing during the regional parc ferme portion, we could set something up.

I'm envisioning tensioning the belts with a ratchet strap, probably across the door bars or between the tiedowns in the back of the truck. With a bit of tension, we see how well the belt cutters go through the material.

If anyone has a belt cutter they would like to test, or wants to donate some expired belts to the cause (or a few $$'s to cover the fact that I'm cutting up perfectly good expired belts), bring them along. Unless something happens and I'm busy prepping for the 75min service, we should have lots of time.

Look for the yellow VW Scirocco servicing near CanJam.
Doug.

See the thread on Special Stage...

Haven't picked a time yet, but some have expressed interest in doing it Friday when the national competitors can be there.  I'm thinking late afternoon before the shakedown.

I'm hoping to have one like we use on our Fire Dept. Rescue trucks to bring with me for the weekend.

Awesome... bring it if you can... might give some insight into what the "professionals" use.

As a matter of fact, I now have one in my hands.
Brand new to boot.
Look for me in the Panach Rally car. I'm working radio this weekend so I may have to drop it off depending on my assignments. I will be at the workers meeting Friday night.
Or give me a call to arrange something;
(905)650-5889

Here is a link to what it looks like and the specs.
They average around $45
