Title: RALLY TESTING DAYS
Post by rosswood on 03/31/8 at 20:08:04

On behalf of Maple Leaf Rally Club, I am organizing two testing days, which are open to anyone with only two conditions:

(1)must be a caged rally car with a logbook
(2)driver must have a current rally licence

The two dates will be Tuesday, April 8th and Saturday, May 3rd. You are welcome to sign up for either date or both.

Both testing days will be run on the Galway Cavendish Rd.  Hours will be from 10 AM to 5 PM. You can drive until your tongue hangs out. Typically on a test day, you will easily accumulate as many km as you would during a Regional event.  Several drivers have doubled that on previous test days, as there is much less waiting around.

Cost should  work out somewhere between $300 and $500 per driver, depending on how many participate to share the cost.

A deposit of $300 must be submitted to Ross Wood a minimum of 5 days prior to the test date for you to be guaranteed a spot, unless we reach the limit of 7 drivers prior to that. The balance will be paid on the test day.

So for April 8th the deposit must be received by Tuesday, April April 2nd.
For May 3rd the deposit must be received by Sunday, April 27th.

To book a spot and to make arrangements for your deposit, contact Ross at 647-224-1492 by phone or by e mail at ross.wood@sympatico.ca

Response has been amazing over the last 24 hours.

April 8th is full unless someone withdraws.

May 3rd has a few spots left.

Note re licence - it is possible to get a RallySprint only licence, which will qualify for this.  Contact Ray Felice, RSO President if you will need that.

The Testing Day yesterday (April 8th) was a huge success.  We ran cars almost non stop from 10 AM until 5 PM except for three times when we had to hold up briefly to allow big trucks in to the quarry at the end of the road.

The road held up well and drivers went home with big grins on their faces.  One driver said he calculated he got in 90 km of driving.  There was a lot learned by experienced drivers and co-drivers mentoring newbies.

No cars were damaged; in fact we only had to tow one car all day and that was due to a mechanical gremlin.

I wish to clarify re fees. The $300 fee is paying for one car to run the road as many times as you can
fit into a day.  If you plan to have one car and two drivers, the total fee
will remain $300.  If you plan to bring  two cars to test but guarantee only
one driver in the two cars, the fee would still be $300.  Two cars and two
drivers would be $600.

Furthermore to satisfy the insurance requirements and CARS RallySprint Rules, everyone
driving or co-driving in a car must have a valid rally licence.  That can
either be a CARS Regional or National licence or a CARS RallySprint licence.
In order to fulfill this requirement, we have created an RSO RallySprint
licence.  There is a simple form that must be filled in and the cost is $5.
Contact Ray Felice or myself to get the application.

There are only three spots left for the May 3rd Test Day.  Contact me ASAP if you wish to run but have not paid your deposit.
