Title: Now isn't that interesting? Post by BTDT on 10/15/8 at 10:07:42 LSPR start order - John Buffum co-driving for Travis - hmmmmm Donna |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by jgardhouse on 10/15/8 at 12:42:15 Why do I have a sneaking suspicion it will be spectacular? Either really fast and balls-to-the-wall, or a very spectacular off! |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by BTDT on 10/15/8 at 13:30:25 Well back in my days, JB had the nick-name "Stuffum Buffum" but then he was driving. D |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by Doug_Woods on 10/15/8 at 16:02:08 John is actually a very competent co-driver. He is only one of two people who have won an SCCA/RA National Rally as both a driver and a co-driver. Can you name the other person to have done this? Doug Woods |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by Jim Stevens on 10/15/8 at 16:58:10 He is competing this weekend. Jim |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by DaveC on 10/15/8 at 18:36:47 Doug Sheppard? |

Correct. Who did Buffum co-drive for when he won? Doug Woods |

Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by Jim Stevens on 10/15/8 at 23:37:47 Continuing the game of rally history, who did Shepherd co-drive for in many of his victories as a co-driver ? Jim |

Stig Blomqvist. Doug Woods |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by Doug_Woods on 10/15/8 at 23:57:01 While we are talking about American drivers, who are the three US drivers that have competed in the WRC 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland? Buffum is not one of them. Doug Woods |

Shepherd co-drove for Buffum |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by Tom_H on 10/16/8 at 11:16:15 And what was the first Canadian event John co-drove for Doug Shepherd? |

Tim O'Neil is the only one I can identify |
Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by Doug_Woods on 10/16/8 at 14:18:36 Tim O'Neil is correct. You have to go back to 1973 for the other two. I was co-driving for one of them Doug Woods |

Title: Re: Now isn't that interesting? Post by Jeannie on 10/17/8 at 12:59:20 Did you folks know that this weekend marks the 34th anniversary of a World Championship Rally right here in Lanark Highlands (and north)? Doug will get this one with no problem: ;) the final page of the program is a full-page Toyota ad, with the headline reading: "Walter, Doug and Toyota just won the Canadian Rally Championship again." Answer: The 1974 World Championship Rally of the Rideau Lakes ran from October 16-20, 1974, and Rally HQ was in Smiths Falls. I don't know where Jim got his hands on a photocopy of the program, but it came in handy when Darryl and I were pitching our proposal to the Lanark Highlands committee. As the MCO Rally Group is busy preparing for our stage rally next May, I didn't want to let this anniversary go by without mention! Jean MacGillivray MCO Rally Director |
