Dear MLRC Members,

As some of you may be aware, there have been some significant changes within the MLRC board and executive recently. Due to personal commitments, our President, Bryn Epp, felt he could not give the time to the job of President that it deserves. He is an extremely valuable member however and losing him from the board would have been very difficult. To that end, he and I, with the remainder of the board's approval, have switched positions. I have taken over the President position and he the Director At Large position. In addition, Kym Prime, our Secretary, asked to step down from the board. The board has appointed James Drake, our current Membership coordinator and Rallycross coordinator to the position of Secretary. While all of these changes are only on an interim basis until the AGM in December, we hope that you, the club membership, will support these decisions.

Our hope going into the coming months is to strengthen the club by concentrating on our core events, while providing more membership value to you. We will be looking at new ideas for our club meetings to get everyone more involved and increase the social aspect of being a member of the Maple Leaf Rally Club.

The Rally of the Tall Pines is once again close at hand and progressing well. Changes made this year are sure to enhance the event for competitors, spectators, and volunteers alike. We have begun looking to fill some key positions for the 2009 event, and if you're interested in helping the event in the future we encourage you to step forward.

The 2009 Black Bear Rally has some big news as well. Donna Huber has volunteered to take over as Coordinator of the rally, and I will be staying on as Clerk of the Course. In addition, the decision to move the event from Dorset to Bancroft has been made, pending permissions. It is our hope to alleviate any competitor concerns about road conditions while at the same time providing a unique event.

This year's Mini Rally Championship faced some difficult challenges, and under the leadership of Ken Nazeer and Paul Henshall we have already begun planning to strengthen the series for 2009 and beyond. More about the Minis will be coming soon.

With the 2008 Rallycross season now complete we are already making plans for 2009. It is our hope that other clubs in the region will provide events for another great Ontario championship, though we are again planning a strong series of winter and summer events of our own. Look for more information on winter Rallycross in the coming months.

For 2009 the Maple Leaf Winter Rally is once again hoping to provide a challenging winter event for the ORRC calendar. We are actively seeking assistance to put this event together, and anyone interested in helping out is asked to contact myself or Ross Wood.

The Next club meeting is Tuesday, November 4th at the Musket. We will be holding the seeded draw for the Tall Pines, and all are welcome.
