Title: 2009 Wheel & Tire Zone Mini Rally Champ. Serie Post by knaztech on 01/06/9 at 17:19:04 The 2009 Wheel & Tire Zone Mini Rally Series is now over! Please watch this space for a full report and the final championship point standings. This is a set of seven monthly navigational rallies held on good quality gravel and paved country roads just north of Toronto. For 2009, we have made some exciting changes to the events as well as the schedule. Highlights for 2009: Fun-Focused - simpler instructions, easier navigation and more fun Winter Driving - 3 Mini-Rallys will be held during the winter months - January, February and March. Winter Tires and safety triangles are required! New Start/Finish Location access to less-travelled roads that are away from populated areas. This is the way navigational rallying is meant to be: fun, inexpensive, and an interesting drive. This is your opportunity to enter this sport at the grassroots level. New Dates for 2009: January 19 February 23 March 9 May 11 June 8 July 13 August 10 New Location! EDIT: All Mini Rally events will start and finish at the Husky House Restaurant near Bradford, Ontario. This restaurant is located within the Car/Truck Stop at the intersection of Highways 400 North and 88 (Exit 64A). Registration: The Registration desk opens at 6:30 PM on the evening of the event. The following items are required: Car ownership (or written permission from the owner) Proof of valid automobile insurance Valid Drivers License A clipboard, pen, paper and digital watch are very useful. Map lights and calculators are also handy Tire and triangle expectations as above Start Times: Car 1 will start at 8:01 PM and is due back at the finish by about 10:15 PM. The rallies are approximately 100 kilometres in length. Entry Fee: Entry fee is $30 per car ($25 for MLRC members). Discounts of 50% off and 75% off are available for the 6th and 7th events in 2009. In addition, the 7th event in 2009 gets you one free entry in 2010. Awards: Trophies will be presented to the Top 3 finishers of each rally in each of the Beginner, Novice, and Expert classes. Series championship points are also awarded at the following rate: 1st Place: 10 Points 2nd Place: 9 Points 3rd Place: 8 Points 4th Place: 7 Points 5th Place: 6 Points 6th Place: 5 Points 7th Place: 4 Points 8th Place: 3 Points 9th Place: 2 Points 10th Place: 1 Point Workers points are available to teams that compete in two Mini-Rally or more. Series Championship: The best 5 of 7 events will determine the Class Championships, with Championship Plaques to be awarded at the end of the calendar year. Sponsors' promotional items may also be distributed at all events. Competitors must be present at the end of the rally to qualify for the draw. From time to time, other prizes may be available. |

I had a blast with Stephen and suggest to anyone who is looking at doing a navigational rally for the first time to come out to the next event! |
