Title: BLACK BEAR WORKER THANKS
Post by rosswood on 06/14/9 at 06:56:38

Thanks to all of you who came out and braved the bugs this weekend for the
Black Bear Rally. It was a very smoothly run operation, thanks to all of
you.

The teamwork was amazing - everyone just pitched in and took on all
challenges from irate residents to saving turtles from being run over. It
was so nice for me after the banquet just to get in the truck and drive
home, instead of having to sort through equipment and load the trailer.
Thanks to all of you for returning the equipment so promptly.

Competitor attrition was very high, but it was mostly mechanical.

In the end Peter Thomson/ Frank Sprongl won the event in their Evo with
total time of 1:08:11, follwed by Chris Martin/Phil Narini in their Subaru
with 1:10:43 and Martin Donnelly/James Drake in their Subaru STi with
1:15:51.

4th O/A and 1st Group 5 was claimed by Martin Walter/Ferdinand
Trauttsmansdorff in the Nissan with 1st PGT going to Ian Crerar/Doug Draper
in a Subaru.

Please be sure to have the Tall Pines weekend marked on your calendar -
November (19), 20 & 21. We always need every volunteer we can get for that
one. If you are interested in getting a bit more or a lot more involved in
the pre-event work for the Pines, contact me and we can talk about it.

Thanks again for your contribution to an excellent event.

Ross

Thank you to all the workers and organizers. I'm sure it wasn't pleasant out there all day with the bugs. It was great fun even as short as our day was.

It's not you - it's the Lada.

Big thank you to everyone who came out and worked in the dust and flies!

Robin

I want to echo everyone's thanks, especially to Ross. He took on a monumental task with the road permissions with the township and MNR. If it wasn't for his efforts, the rally simply never would have happened. Thanks!

Ryan

It was a great event. It is incredible that you were able to put together 100 km of special stages for the regional rally -- i.e. one could enjoy two regional rallies rolled into one. I know, I did not finish even 30km, but I will be there next year fighting the bears/beers, bugs and Ladas  :P again.

Thank you all for such an excellent rally.

Paul

Thanks, everyone - the organizing committee and all the workers.  It's too bad we couldn't get further than we did, but I think we DNF'd in good company.   :)

Thanks to everyone involved!

The stage KM was very nice, and i know it took alot of volunteers to pull that off!

Alot of DNF....and we probably should have also.  Our run to 2nd overall looks innocent, but  running stage 3 in FWD (broken rear half shaft), Stage 5 and onwards with no 3rd gear, and half of the last stage with a 1/4" hole in the side of the transmission, along with a completely genaded rear diff.  Anyone who heard us pull into the final MTC must have wondered what was up!  That was the "longest" transit i have EVER driven!
