Title: Ebay Nissan Rally car
Post by Anthony_T on 08/31/9 at 20:58:18

I don't know the guy or the car.  I think someone else pointed it out somewhere earlier this month.  It's now posted on ebay.

Death trap!

Seriously though, T-Tops and a crap cage don't give me that warm feeling.

Certainly that T top makes claims of a Log book suspect. Having said that I do recall a T roof car around years ago. Even today metal panels bolted in place MIGHT meet regulations.

However with out that solid metal you would wonder about body flex

That car did have a CARS logbook at some point... IIRC, Ross Wood remembered it running at certain events. You can bolt/weld off a sunroof, so... (but they're removed in some photos!)

The cage is really poorly designed even for the age. It looks like it is more or less held in just by the vertical bolts on the rear strut towers. No roof bar, probably nothing besides the feet tying the main hoop to the car (no gusset or Y-bars to the center of the car. Even if you put in new seats, belts, fire bottles, welded in a roof bar, I don't think its 'safe'. You sure as **** wouldn't see me running silly seat in that sucker.

I don't recognize the names in those photos, and the car has new paint at the front (the car was for sale out of Kincardine 6-8 months ago).
Looks to me like some new people bought it, painted it, entered a parade, then realized they should buy a different car :P

Possibly worth considering as a $500 rallycross car or ice racer, but I sure wouldn't take it on a stage...

Here is the discussion:

I am pretty sure that is the car. For those of you that remember, I am pretty sure that Yavor K. ran a Nissan PU at TallPines one year with a MASSIVE steel wing on the back. I am pretty sure it was there for ballast, not the aero effects. (Must have a thing for Nissan's).

I remember that truck from a Voyageurs too, yep.

I found it. He ran the Nissan P/U in 2001.

We contacted the seller with a bunch of questions which he did not respond to. Kinda surprised to find it on e-bay... Maybe he figures it will be easier to sell if he does not have answer question about the vehicle...

Sadly enough I am out of the market for a rally car (for the time) since my daily drive got hit by a drunk driver last week and totaled.

Went to see it in London it was pretty sad :) The pictures where about 5 years old on e-bay it was much worse than that,he should have got rid of it while scrap was high :)

In addition to needing belts - It likely needed a roof bar and seats, at least.  Seats are a huge expense to buy and install.  I also think that not having the logbook was a factor against it too - especially with the t-top and odd front bars.  Perhaps selling it on E-bay was easier and better then trying to feed it back into the rally community.  444$ does not seem like a bad deal though for whoever picked it up.

Yes, like Ryan said for $444, it would make a good ice racer.

I am guessing that it is headed out-of-province:

The shipping will cost more then the price of the car.  Maybe we'll see it back up for auction.

Well,

I took my mom to Rocket Rally Prep shop when I was in Van to show her the saftey gear they put in the cars. So she wouldnt be so scared of how bad I want to Stage Rally....

So she was on E-Bay and found this car, she got a little excited and bid on it..... Now I own it....

But have to get it back to BC... :o

I really appreciate what she tryed to do, but after reading this, Im a little scared..

Thanks for the info tho ha
