Title: Import a usa shell?
Post by corywannamaker on 12/17/9 at 09:46:36

i was offered a full caged shell from the US for a great price. i have lloked into importing a car but cannot find anything about importing a shell. It is a rolling shell with no brakes or drive line. I am wondering if anyone has done this and how to go about importing a car that cannot be lic. or inpescted for the road until I install a drive line and brakes? any insight would be great.

Thanks
Cory

Talk to Terry Epp, he knows all the stuff about importing a rallycar and might be able to help.

Of course, I would never endorse swapping vin numbers with a Canadian car that's similar.  :cough:

Cory, be really, really careful!

Caged does NOT mean caged for Rally. It can cost more money to update a cage than to start from scratch.

Does the shell have a current logbook?

i am in the process of finding all of that out. I am just trying to get all of my 'ducks' in a row so if it is log booked etc.. then I can get things moving on it. otherwise I will walk away. thanks for the heads up.

It depends on the model of the car. If you were trying to import an Impreza 'L', you'd need to take your car to a Canadian
Tire and show them your Daytime Running Lights, and your child safty seat hook (for the rear, non-existant seats). It could get tricky. There is a way. Actually a few ways...

If it's log booked, talk to Terry - pretty sure you can avoid all that RIV/Can Tire stuff.
