Title: TESTING DAY January 16 10
Post by rosswood on 12/24/9 at 10:52:28

Announcing  a ‘Pre Perce Neige or Pre RallyCross ’ Testing Day on Saturday, January 16th. This session will be run on the Burnt River Offroad Facility road. Testing will start at 10 AM sharp. For this session, we are prepared to run later – until at least 7 PM to accommodate more cars and to give more practice in the dark.

To be eligible to enter,  the car must be a currently legal fully prepared
performance rally car. The driver and co-driver/passenger must hold a valid
2010 CARS or equivalent rally licence - either a CARS Regional or National
performance licence or a 2010 RSO RallySprint licence - available through the RSO
Director, Ray Felice - rayfrally@rogers.com .

The cost will be $325 per car. You must PAY IN ADVANCE by e mail Interac
transfer,  by VISA, by direct deposit or cash. A full refund less a $30
service charge will be given for any withdrawal up to five days prior to the
Testing. Details of refund for withdrawals less than five days prior to the
Testing to be negotiated, depending on the number of cars that participate. Full refund if the Organizers cancel (highly unlikely).

The session will be limited to the FIRST TEN TO SIGN UP by contacting
Ross Wood at ross.wood@sympatico.ca or by phone at 705-887-1130. If your payment is not received by 5 days after signing up, you may forfeit your reservation.

Note – the attached photo of the road was taken on December 22nd. We expect lots more snow before January 16th. Generally the snow that falls here (unlike in the GTA) stays.

You spoke too soon!

I'm tempting the rally gods by bringing gravel/mud tires for the afternoon! :)

I have just asked Connie at her Facebook wall about the current condition of the road. I will try to re-post here in the evening (if she replies). I will be gone for a day, so if she replies, anybody please feel free to re-post here for the non-Facebook crowd.

Great day as per usual!

Not as many runs as other test days, since we're a lot slower then summer time!

Deep DEEP snow in the morning, turned into proper(ish) snowbanks, water on the road (in spots) and slick as poop ice in the braking zones.

Fun road, a few tricky bits and a few scary trees that always catch me off guard. I really enjoy the fact that its only two hours from downtown TO, including a gas stop. Bancroft feels a good 50% further!

Keith Hendy, the original owner (who bought and ran the car and had it built in 98/99 - 10 years of rallying for my little mazda!) of the car came out and took the beloved mazda out for a run. I hope the juice was worth the squeeze (or as we say, it was "worth the drive to acton!")

We had snow jammed in from the engine forward - had to spend a good 10 minutes cleaning it out on at least three occasions - a whole lotta stuffin' going on.

No real damage to the car (that I have found yet!) - wheel well liner needs a screw or two, and I broke a switch/sensor clearing snow out from the engine bay, but really, no major damage! Bonus!

Got to read notes for a few runs, I think I will co-drive an event or two this year. Note: I'm a horrible driver, apparently.

Great organizer and workers as per usual! Props to Doug for towing us out of the rough countless times!

RallyX course is semi-complete and plowed, which is great news!

OH! And apologies to photog extraordinaire Tom Hayston for making him run for the hills, DSLR in tow! I swear, we were intentionally going directly towards you!

Excellent Test Day. Perfect conditions and just the right number of stuffs to know that the drivers were testing their limits, but there were no damaged cars.  Even at the end of the day it was a totally winter road.

Hope that helps the guys now for Sno Drift, Perce Neige and RallyCross.
