You're nuts dude, but I'm sure it'll be a hell of a show!

Oh that poor car!  Stay out of the chips on the outside.

(Also might not be able to use your Peltor - I think rules only specify Snell 95 & up)

Leo,  that will be the best show since Frank Sprongl took the mighty Quattro.  I have to see that. May need a ride.

It may be different now that they run Menards rather than screws, but I remember ice chips used to build up on the outside of the corners.  If you overcooked it and slipped off the line (which moves lap-to-lap), you'd be in chips, spinning your wheels while getting passed... and swearing

Yup, still the case. The silliest rule I've ever read.  :-?

Has anyone seen a time schedule? Can't seem to find it on the PMSC site.

We modified this for Autoslalom, Solosprint and Race; alll other CASC-OR divisions.  If the Ice Race scrutineer that weekend happens to be from another division, just lay on the confidence.  ;)

Bring a copy of 5.1.B on page 49 and appeal to Sharon Feeney's wisdom.

If it's safe enough for the lunatics in road race, it should work in Minden.  I wouldn't phrase it that way, mind you.

Well, if PMSC is hosting it, then you probably won't have any issues with helmets.  Enough people in the club are involved in rally to understand that Peltor helmets are safe.

And have fun!  I haven't been ice racing in a couple years now!

Just had to get back out on some studs eh?   :P

So Leo did really well today at ice racing. In his first heat he went from 8th to 2nd.  Then in street studs he finished 2nd then 1st. In studs he finished 2nd twice, against a very strong first place car  - a well prepared old Subaru, that is actually faster down the straight than Leo's car.

Ice racing requires quite different driving technique than rally driving, so Leo has some experimenting to do. He can be a lot faster yet. Plus he was being very careful whenever in traffic, trying not to damage the car.

Good job Leo,

Ross, was it Kiyo's Subaru that was quick or other? Tony M?

Dan, yes it was Kiyo's car - an extremely well prepared car and an excellent driver. Biggest difference was that it (and a bunch of others) beat the hell out of Leo off the line - probably mainly because of the weight difference. Leo tried all different ways of starting off.

BTW I got to ride one race with Leo (thanks Leo) and he was hitting 6th gear.

Leo was also being extremely cautious in traffic to avoid getting the car banged up.

I'm sure with some more practice, Leo would have a chance at winning.

Ross, thanks :)

WHAT A WEEK END! Good fun and even though my heart still belongs to rallying, wheel to wheel in AMAZING! Ross, second day I started to go a bit more aggressive in trafic.. it's just so much fun!

I have to say, I was almost surprised that everyone on the track is SO respectful! True gentleman behavior, it was very good!

And Kiyo... the man can driiiiiiiiiiiiive!!!! Huge respect!
