Title: Anyone in Ontario looking to buy an '88 90q + part
Post by dtompsett on 02/28/10 at 19:40:41

Looking at selling my '88 90q.

253,000km's
-original engine and transmission
-red w/ black leather interior (and black hood)... heated seats still work.
-Depo euro headlights w/ relays.  City lights not connected. 80/100w bulbs
-Hella 500 driving lights - 55w bulbs, switch controlled by highbeams. (can't turn on unless highbeams are on)
-still has the plastic under-engine tray
-missing odd bits of interior trim... I have it all in storage, just not in the car.
-receiver style trailer hitch and trailer wiring (high-end type... doesn't pull power from the OE circuits.)
-currently on snow-tires. Have more rims/tires than you can possibly imagine.
-ABS removed.

Things to note:
-rear diff lock still works (fab'd new bracket and fixed vacuum leak in winter 2009)
-cruise still works
-trunk lid harness replaced with 4-lead hanging harness (no interior trunk light wiring... who needs a trunk light!)
-sunroof works!

Winter 2009
-Clutch replaced in winter 2009, along with clutch MC (don't think I put in my slave... if I didn't, then I have a new slave cylinder in the parts bin)
-fuel hard-lines replaced in winter 2009
-rear diff lock still works (fab'd new bracket and fixed vacuum leak in winter 2009)
-tranny mounts (not oem... the allroad mounts)

Fall 2008
-new block heater (I moved to Sudbury that spring)

2008 and earlier
-big-mouse "poor man's polyurethane control arm bushings" (energy suspension bushings for a pickup truck... that happen to fit perfectly)
-custom 2.5" stainless exhaust... flex joint after cat, no mid-muffler, Vibrant 1134 muffer in rear... stainless flanges, 304 stainless for most of exhaust (some 409 stainless for main pipe length... rusts very slowly due to carbon content + thickness... probably has 10+ years left in it)
http://forums.audiworld.com/sh...17910    Link to original exhaust build, and almost 3yr followup

Note the car has a black hood... (old photo... summer 2007... yes, those 15" rims come with the car, and Falken RT615's w/ a few summer months left in them... lights pictured aren't Hella 500's)

Minor dent on a-pillar... from when I hit a moose (clipped his chin!)  Paint has been cleaned, chips have been touched up.

I have never rallied this car... just daily-driving.

Asking price... $2500.

What???  $2500... for a 22yo beater?  It also includes ALLLLLLLL of my parts cars, if you want them...
3 x 1988 Audi 90q's... one is my old rally beater.
2 x 1988 Audi 90's... one missing engine/tranny.  One with good 2.0L 3A engine, bad tranny.
Plus an engine tranny and rear diff from my first 90q, fenders, etc...
whatever spare parts I've got.

Piles of spares... new brake parts, flex lines, calipers, ignition components, etc etc.

Why am I selling?  We're getting an Outback wagon for more space... and my car isn't going to be needed anymore.  This is my daily driver... I'd easily drive 1000km's with it tomorrow if needed.

Car is located in Sudbury, Ontario, parts cars located in Peterborough Ontario.  You will need a flatbed trailer to move the parts cars.

Nobody wants a nice daily-driver + thousands of dollars in spare parts?

Build a rally car and have 4 spare transmissions!

Ok...

$2000 as-is... and that will include:
-current all season tires that are on the car
-winter tires on rims (one season left... comes with a full-size brand new spare on rim)
-15" summer tires (Falken RT615's) on rims
-trailer hitch (custom made, 1yr old, tows like a dream)
-trailer wiring
-Euro H4 lights + relays
-Light bar + wiring to mount a pair of rally lights (I'm keeping my Hella's)
-new front rotors in-box
-One whole parts car... assuming you pickup/move it.

Price can be negotiated down...
-remove parts car
-remove euro lights and return to OEM

Recently serviced brakes all around... new pads up-front.

Paint needs some time spent with rubbing compound/polish/wax.

Will drive the car to you... assuming some $$ down.

Planning to have the car in Norwood/Peterborough over the May long weekend; Someone want to make me an offer?

Nobody wants to build a nice rallyx car... or tsd car... or have a nice daily driver?   (did I mention heated leather seats??)

Not a single offer... I'm kind of shocked.  Car can come with/without parts cars, with/without rally lights, with/without extra rims & tires.

When was the last time you had the chance to buy a car, with the option of 3 sets of rims& tires, plus several extra sets of rims.  (I can easily supply an extra 3 or 4 full sets of 14" rims, 1 set of 15" rims... not including the original 3 sets of rims & tires)

Offers?

I want all that... it's just a matter of not having the money to satisfy my want.   ;D

I get very tempted every time I see this thread.  For a long time now, I've wanted to put together some sort of proper recce/TSD car, but I just can't afford to drop a couple thousand on another car right now.

Of course, if my van does kick the bucket completely some time soon (and there's an outside chance that it will), you might be getting a phone call.   ;)

In the meantime, though, I've gotta keep my fingers crossed that the vehicle I've got keeps running.

darn Doug you are getting close to what I can swing.

Anybody want to buy a pretty clean and partially disassembled (engine swap being worked on) 82 Volvo?

cancel that... guy is bringing it back.  His mechanic quoted him an outragious price to certify it... including "headwork".

Sounds to me like someone has never heard a noisy hydraulic lifter on a mid-late '80s Audi/VW engine.   >:(

So... still available.  And I might be certifying it soon, just to avoid these hassles in the future.

What ever happened to As-Is, Where-Is?

Sorry to hear that Doug.

That infamous VW/Audi tick is there to let you know the engine is running.
Other than the "headwork" what else do you think it needs to be certified?
