Title: Discover Ontario Car Rally
Post by Dave Cotie on 05/03/10 at 13:29:27

One of my neighbors, who used to rally and would like to get back into it,  has asked me if I would be interested in entering with him. He wants to navigate. It is the weekend right before Black Bear so I would be burning up some good behaviour points being away at rallies back-to-back weekends!  :D

1) This would only be the 2nd time entering a nav rally. Would this be a good one?

2) I see it is shown as being around Brantford, but last year it ran near Port Hope. Is the Brantford location correct?

3) He has a 2005(?) STi with a 1/2 cage (roll bar). He uses it for track days and is his summer DD. Are there any rules about entering a nav rally with a 1/2 cage?

So . . . someone wants you to drive their STi (which is set up for track days) while they navigate?

Am I understanding this right?

#1:  Any Nav Rally is a good one to enter.   ;)  Brooke tends to be rather creative, but not brutal or extreme in his thinking.  So, yeah, should be a piece of cake.

#2:  Brooke Jacobs is the organizer for that event, and true to the name of the rally, he believes in moving it around and letting people Disocver Ontario.

#3:  Brantford is probably correct, though the DOCR website isn't updated yet.  You can ask him to  confirm by Emailing Brooke @ Brooke dot net

#4:  A half cage is fine, but ideally you'll still have the MTO / DOT legal stock three points.  Doing up a five or six point harness properly after a checkpoint often takes longer than the time you'll have if there are any Timed to the Minute CP's.

#5:  There's a really big cup for the winning novice team!
