A special Black Bear Work Party is scheduled for this Sunday – May 9th. Due to the large number of trees blown down by a big storm, the roads cannot be graded until the trees are cleared away. That cannot wait until the regular Work Day on Saturday, May 29th, which is still scheduled.
Most of the trees are not very large, but they are hanging across the road. A path has been cut through just wide enough to allow a vehicle through with trees scraping the roof and almost scraping the sides. Obviously a grader cannot work in those conditions.
So the more help we can get on Sunday, the better. If you can help out, even for a couple of hours, please respond to me ASAP. It would be helpful if you could bring a saw, but lots of hands will speed up the process just disposing of branches as they are cut.
Competitors, this is your chance to contribute.
There is also a little bit of roadwork to be done.
The plan is to start at 10 AM, but you can arrive later and find us. For those familiar with the Egan Creek roads complex, we will be starting on Mayo Lake Rd down near Qwirk Rd (TC31), then moving up to the Birch Lake Trail (from TC33 across to TC29). If you would like me to send you a map, please advise.
There will likely be some bugs, so in addition to food and drink, bring repellant.
Radio frequency will be 146.580 simplex.

Thanks, crew. What a work team - must have cut down 200 trees that were blown down across the Black Bear stage roads by a huge windstorm.

Congrats and thank you to those that attended.

Being Mother's Day I could not. I wouldn't be alive to attend Black Bear if I did! ;)
