Title: BLACK BEAR SECOND CALL FOR WORKERS May 26 10
Post by rosswood on 05/26/10 at 05:42:58

Plans are shaping up well for the Can-Jam Motorsports Black Bear Rally which will be run by the Maple Leaf Rally Club on Saturday, June 12, 2010 in McArthur’s Mills, Ontario, however we still need quite a few more volunteers.

In particular we still need lots more help on the day of the event - radio operators, timing marshals,  traffic control marshals and crowd control marshals will be required. We would also appreciate a few more helpers on the Work Day (Saturday, May 29th) and Rally Prep/Recce day (Friday, June 11th).

So please mark those dates on your calendar and respond ASAP to ross.wood@sympatico.ca  to confirm your attendance.

Rally HQ is at the Carlow Mayo Township Community Centre on Mayo Lake Rd. in McArthur’s Mills just south of Hwy. 28 (about 25 minutes east of Bancroft on Hwy. 28).  Phone number at Rally HQ is 613-332-2380.

All rally volunteers will receive a T shirt, a ticket to the post-rally pig roast and entry in the draw for numerous worker prizes, including a kayak from Clearwater Design.

We are booking spaces for volunteers if you wish to stay at Cedar Ridge Camp (about 5 minutes from Rally HQ). At Cedar Ridge up to four workers will be booked per room in bunk beds. Bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. Good showers and a full breakfast are included in the package. Cost is $20 per night to the worker (the rally covers the other $20 per night). Contact Ross Wood at ross.wood@sympatico to book a spot.

There is also free camping available at Rally HQ – only service is a Johnny on the Spot.

Little Mississippi Campground is about 5 minutes away – 613-332-5106.

Various B & B’s and motels are available – see the list at www.mlrc.ca/blackbear/ then select Accommodations.

All volunteers may apply for a $20 accommodation subsidy on a first-come first-served basis up to a budget limit – contact Ross to apply for a subsidy.

Note – we will book all spots for workers at Cedar Ridge Camp. If you stay anywhere
else, you must make your own arrangements.
