Title: SFI belt expiration
Post by Alexei S on 06/30/10 at 20:59:55

Alright, I need to confirm this because it would suck to get to GCFR only to find out I'm right.

My belts are SFI and manufacture dated as January 2008. The rules say "SFI licensed harness sets must have a date of manufacture label that is no older than two years". So my understanding is that January 2010 was the expiration and these belts are expired. Am I right? Or am I reading this wrong? It appears these belts are 2 years 7 months old.

That's correct Alexei. Sucks to have to get new belts when those are more than likely perfectly fine. I'd suggest spending a little bit more and getting FIA rated belts, they're good for 5 years.

Speak to Robin / Peter. I believe they have a source of good ones relatively well priced HANS compliant belts (different than mine).

Yep, I mentioned to Peter today when I was getting other stuff that I would have to get belts at the end of this year. I guess I just moved it up. Oh well. I'll talk to him Friday when I get my halfshaft boot kit  >:(
