Title: FS - Set of Hella 500 lights
Post by Dave Cotie on 08/23/10 at 20:58:56

I have for sale a set of Hella 500's and they come with a bonus. A brand new set of covers. The covers I got with the lights were in rough shape, but I will include both sets.

Get your lights for Pines or the winter rally season - $50.

I'll get photos later but......they are Hella 500's. I am sure you can find a photo on the internet.

Not sure. I bought them from Ross. Maybe he knows?

Driving lights... you can see the bulb and reflector.

Fog lights... all you see is the 'fluting' in the lense.  (There is also an amber option)

Do you have the associated wiring as well? And - sorry to be annoying - do you (or Ross) know the bulb wattage?

No I don't have the wiring. You can buy it from HSL Rallysport (Paul H.).

The one cover got messed-up by the lights being turned on with the cover on. Melted!

From the pics, they are clearly driving lights. I am pretty sure they are 55W.

Wiring for these is pretty darn simple.  Grab a relay from Canadian Tire (or Princess Auto... or your fav. electronics supplier), and a fuse holder.  There are tons of wiring diagrams out there for simple relay circuits.

It's the Hella 4000's that you need fancy connectors for IIRC.  But on these lights, it's a simple matter of connecting two wires.  One ground, one switched +ve.

And these came stock with 55w bulbs.  Likely they haven't been changed.  I've learned that 100w bulbs in these lights can cause bad problems... like cracked lenses when they make contact with cold snowbanks...  ::)

Stock, the 500's come with 55w bulbs.  H3 IIRC, but not sure on that.  Paul stocks relays, inline fuses, and even the Hella bulbs are a reasonable price!
