Title: Tall Pines Communication? Post by polski on 11/10/10 at 11:43:43 I'm wondering what radios the marshals or time keepers use to radio in the stage times? I was thinking it would be very interesting to bring a transmiter? or a scanner? to listen in. If someone knows it would be helpful. Thank you. PG |
Title: Re: Tall Pines Communication? Post by xrian on 11/10/10 at 15:18:08 We use Ham Radio so you would have to have a license to posses a transmitter. Scanner is fine. I'll leave it up to Ross if he wants to post the frequencies. Not my place. |

Actually, not quite. You can be in possession of a transmitter/reciever for which you are not licensed. You must be licensed to transmit. But you should totally get your ham radio lic some time :) Then when you help with events, you're already set for communications :) :D |
Title: Re: Tall Pines Communication? Post by C. Hamm on 11/22/10 at 21:26:01 It's bad enough having a stuck mic from a worker, but from a spectator . . . the horror . . . . the horror . . . . Not the Pines or any rally I've been to, but some large events can get nuisance jammers on the frequency, so organisers for a multitude of reasons don't like to publish frequencies. It's pretty easy to figure out, however, when you're there. |
