I won! How the hell did that happen? Shocked

Just got back to London a couple hours ago... Once again, great event! Thanks to all those involved, I had a great time and I think everyone else did too. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the next one due to a conflict with the regional Solo-II in Barrie but I'll definately be back in October!

Here are my pics from the event - unflipped, unedited (except for a couple license plates), uncommented, in all their raw glory:

Enjoy!

I also have a bunch of video but I have no way to transfer it from my (tape) camera to my computer... Give me a few days here and I'll see if I can't post it up.

Jay, the pic site seems to be a dead link on this site too for now.

Looking at the results, congrats on the class win, just thinking of what might have been had I NOT been car #1 and had the luxury of watching the first few go through the course the wrong way. The one minute penalty was a killer.

Thats motorsport!

HOLY WOW!  That was more fun then I ever remembered!  Tremendous thanks to the organizers and FourStar for pushing ahead with the series.  A very well executed event  - especially considering the super short notice.  My car and I really appreciated the gravel lot, gravel pit combo - Speed, without being a car breaker.  I've been all smiles ever since.

Counting down the days to the 19th.  Anthony

Great pics Andrew!
Now I can see I wasn't carrying NEARLY enough speed through that hairpin. Got to work on that.

I second that comment, great shots Andrew!

lol, you certainly weren't the only one Jay!

sigh...

need to lighten the wagon a few hundred pounds, change the suspension, dirt tires, rear sway and maybe a JDM STI engine swap....

Grin

yeah, that'll happen REAL soon...

A few announcements from the RallyX organizing crew:

1. Please preregister if you plan on competing.  We will accept entries at the event but registration lineups move faster if we have more preregistered entries.

2. We have moved the schedule up an hour.  First runs at 11:00am, registration opening around 9:30am, driver's meeting around 10:30am.  We hope this will allow a fifth run.  The website will be updated to reflect this change.

3. We need help!  Please contact me at webmaster@mlrc.ca if you can lend a hand.

Thanks!  We are looking forward to another great event on September 19.

common James...you can do a head gasket in that car in around 3 hrs...you don't even need to take the motor out.

hehehe, YOU might be able to Chris...but not me....i just graduated to brakes, intake systems and assisting with valve covers. I'd rather someone who knows what they're doing help out.

NOW, if you want to DO it for me?

Grin

Seriously if someone want to help with the labour I'm all for it...it's that or I'm honestly considering an engine swap 2.2t if possible.

So i definitely won't be coming out to the event this weekend, kind of hoping to get the engine swap done. Everybody have a blast!

In the end i bought a 2.5 SOHC, yesyes i know...do a turbo swap!

unfortunately due to a severe lack of funds...that won't be happening any time soon.

I think I'll be okay with the sohc... 215,000 fewer kms, regular gas instead of premium, should be lower oil consumption...probably saving myself $100 a month in gas and oil.

Engine should be a bit lighter as well... the block seems about 8" shorter and 2" thinner then my dohc; i'm kind of hoping 25-50lbs difference? who knows ...gotta get the old one out first.

and the extra hp and torque won't hurt either (apparently the older 95 and 96 dohc's were 10hp and 5lbs short of the newer models)
