Guelph, Ontario – The Planet Motorsport Rally Team is making final preparations for the upcoming Black Bear rally, round two of the Ontario Performance Rally Championship (OPRC). The rally, based in the picturesque town of Dorset, Ontario, will put competitors to the test on some of the best stage roads the province has to offer.
The team had a great run at the 2005 Black Bear rally, where it brought home its first podium finish and class victory. “It was great to spray champagne with some of the best drivers in Ontario!” exclaimed team driver John Vanos. “This time around, the car has more power and upgraded suspension, but once again the competition will be strong. It will be a tough battle, but we’re pumped for it!”
Black Bear preparations began almost four months ago. “The Perce-Neige rally in February and our two-day shakedown in May have given us almost 500 kilometres of seat time to prepare for the summer rallies,” said team principal Iain Fraser. “The new car has had zero mechanical issues and we’ve made excellent progress with our pace. We’re ready to tackle the Bear!”
The team sends its condolences to the Thomson family, who have been members of the rally community for many years.
