IMPORTANT TALL PINES MEETING
02/18/7 at 21:21:42

The Maple Leaf Rally Club Board of Directors has called a very important
planning meeting to discuss the future of the Rally of the Tall Pines.
Several key members of the Pines Committee have decided to step back a bit
for very valid personal reasons and the MLRC Board has decided to reorganize
the Committee in order to redistribute the workload into a larger number of
more manageable assignments of responsibility.  A number of excellent
candidates have stepped forward to assist,  but some positions remain
unfilled.  The purpose of the upcoming meeting is to evaluate the
feasability of carrying on at the high level of excellence that has been
attained in recent years under the leadership of Keith Townsend,  Richard
Hepburn, Francis Richard and many others. The Pines truly is at a critical
juncture. Choices include: (1) carrying on at the level attained in recent
years through all positions being filled  (2) carrying on at a reduced level
(3) taking a year off to regroup our forces.

If you care about the future of the Pines we really need your input.
Attending the meeting does not mean you have to commit to signing your life
away.  All input is welcomed.  If you cannot attend,  please respond with
your thoughts.

Ross Wood,  Tall Pines Clerk of the Course

We'll be holding a meeting on Monday, February 19 at the
Musket Restaurant, located at 40 Advance Rd., Etobicoke, east of
Kipling, between Dundas and Queensway.  The meeting will start at 7pm.

If you haven't done so already, please read over the job descriptions
found here:

http://www.mlrc.ca/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=news;action=display;num=1168947672...

It would be great if you can come to the meeting with an idea of what
you would be interested in doing.  A bunch of past and present
committee members will be there to answer any questions you may have.

Work is already starting on the 2007 Rally of the Tall Pines, so we
need to firm up positions in the near future.  You don't need to be a
rally expert to get involved - all you need is a passion for the
sport!

Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can assist you.

Thanks again

Alan Ockwell
Treasurer

An excellent meeting was held with 23 people in attendance.

The decision was made to move ahead for 2007 with the intent to continue the event at a level at least as good as 2006 or better.

Volunteers have come forward for most positions.  At this point we need people for the following:

Media Relations

Competitor Relations Officer

Equipment Manager

Worker Recruitment Officer

Other areas have at least one person taking responsibility, but can always use further assistance. To volunteer contact Alan Ockwell at alan.ockwell@sympatico.ca

Paul Henshall will be the Coordinator for 2007 with Alan Ockwell acting as Assistant Coordinator.

Some really exciting news was presented at the meeting - a major corporation is very interested in the title sponsorship.  Pending details being worked out,  an official announcement will be forthcoming.
