2007 Black Bear Rally - May 31 Update
05/30/7 at 22:54:19

The 2007 edition of Maple Leaf Rally Club's Black Bear Rally, presented by Four Star Motorsports ( http://www.fourstarmotorsports.com/ ) and HotBits Sport Suspensions ( http://www.hotbits.ca ), is fast approaching!

This year the rally is proud to be the first Canadian gravel rally to make use of an innovative digital timing system from Motoring Event Services, principaled by decorated co-driver Mark Williams. Featuring digital time displays at both starts and finishes, as well as photocell activation at flying finishes, this system is certainly the future of rally timing. As a demonstration of this technology, the Sherborne Lake stage road will be run with this new system. We look forward to introducing Canadian rallyists to this technology.

With just over two weeks remaining until this year's Black Bear Rally, entries are steadily coming in now. Competitors are reminded that the deadline for early entry is Monday, June 11th at the MLRC Mini Rally, prior to the seeded draw. Get your entries in soon! Current entries range from open class Subarus to a Group 2 Cortina, and everything in between. Add your rallycar to the list!

In addition, this Saturday, June 2nd is the event Road Work day, an opportunity for competitors to come out and inspect the stages prior to the event as well as contribute to the rally. Anyone interested in helping out is welcome, please contact myself at ryan.huber@sympatico.ca and Ross Wood at ross.wood@sympatico.ca for more details.

Once again, the rally would like to thank ClearWater Design Canoes and Kayaks ( http://www.clearwaterdesignboats.com ) for their support of the rally's volunteers by giving away one of their incredible kayaks to a lucky worker. If you'd like to help out at this year's rally as well, please contact Ross Wood at ross.wood@sympatico.ca for more information.

We look forward to seeing everyone at this year's rally on June 16th, in lovely Dorset Ontario!
