BLACK BEAR WORKER THANKS
06/17/7 at 12:04:12

Many thanks for your contribution to a very successful Black Bear Rally.

Thanks to some  late offers of help we had just enough people to run a safe
rally,  but it was quite a scramble,  especially in Sherborne Lake with the
likes of a mystery red truck appearing mid stage. We still need more HAM
radios to do it right.

You all did a great job of pitching in and making it work.  The Pines
Springs/Ril Lake stages ran perfectly;  in fact these stages were so
efficient that we managed to gain back lots of time and finished within 7
minutes of perfect schedule.

A bunch of stuffed black bears were won by workers at the Banquet and young
Tyler Greenshaw was the very proud winner of the Clearwater Design Kayak.
Thanks to Ian Crerar for his continued generous support of the worker
prizes.

The competition was intense with U.S. National Champions, Travis
Pastrana/Christian Edstrom, only managing to squeak a win by a mere 8
seconds over the 2006 Ontario Champions John Vanos/Alan Ockwell.  In fact
Alan proudly told me that they beat Travis in each of the  four last stages.
Guess they would have liked the rally to be longer.

Please mark November 23 & 24 on your calendar now.  We need every helper we
can get for the Rally of the Tall Pines.

Thanks again.

Ross Wood, Chief Control Marshal

I would also like to express my appreciation to all the workers at the event.

Sometimes us competitors don't always make things easy for you.  But we try to make up for it by putting on the best possible show during the stages. Wink

Also to the organisers, Ryan, Bryn, Ross and everyone else involved in running the event.  Huge thanks to all of you.  I could try to guess how much work you all put into it, but I'm sure there's much more involved than any of us are aware of.

This was yet another fantastic event, put on by a very dedicated and skilled group of people.  Thanks to all of you, everybody had a really great time out there.

Right now, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you face him, he will beat you.

A really well organized event.

The 'famous  guy' made that comment more than once - at turn-arounds and at the end of the rally.

Great recovery from the delay at the start of SS3.

We really appreciate the efforts of everyone who helped it happen.

I said *famous* - not *infamous*  Wink

Have to give John credit for chasing TP right to the end - we were way behind so he could've easily settled for second.

I think he had a 16s deficit going into the last stage and took a big chunk of that away.

haha, nice one Robin!

Alan deserves the credit, he knew I could drive faster and urged me to do so.  I didnt really listen though until SS6 and that looks like it was a stage too late, lol.  Im very happy to have challenged them, Christian said Travis pushed as hard as he ever has in that last stage especially so for me its like a victory anyway!

Thanks to every single person who helped out to make the event happen.  I had an absolute blast and I hope you all did to!

Cheesy Wow! Why do I feel like my son Tyler Greenlaw and I are the winners here. We had amazing weekend. Tyler had the chance to meet Travis Pastrana and had dinner with him. Travis is one very super nice guy, he gave his first place trophy to Tyler and to top the icing on the cake Tyler won the Kayak donated by Ian Crerar, ClearWater Design. Tyler will remember this forever. I won by meeting all of you nice people and having the chance learn about what it takes to put on a Rally.  Hats off to all of you. You did a wonderful job. I can appreciate all the hard work that goes into a rally and making it very successful. Thank you to all the workers for your hard work and Special thanks to Ross Wood, Doug Woods and Family, Adrian from KW Rally Club  and of course Travis Pastrana for making Tyler and I have a very memorable experience.

I also would like to congratulate you John and Alan for putting on a good show with Travis and Christian. When you came around the corner and onto the bridge in stage 6, I thought you were going faster. Awesome job very exciting to watch.

Congratulations to Martin/Robin and Mark/James for finishing 3rd and 4th. I guess Burnt River 's testing and tuning paid off.. I can't wait to see you guys at the Tall Pines and kick some butt  Grin

Cheers, Connie Greenlaw

I think they were! I had them a full four seconds ahead on A5, and two on A8, from my lowly vantage point (which I shared with the black flies, and a rather large moose).

To the other marshals, the organizers and the RSO Sweep Team (and anyone else I am forgetting!), thanks for your part in making it an awesome event to be envolved with - even if the bugs and dust where a bit much!

Jamie

P.s. Thanks to those who bought MLRC shirts! I didn't want to drive home with them!
