I was just asked to Navigate for the Maniwaki rally this year, I did tall Pines last year and have done a handfull of Navigational rallies with many success.  I am also a ice racer during the winter months, so I will have to miss a race weekend to go to this event.  I only get 1 or 2 weekends a winter which I am free to enjoy, and I only have a small budget to work with.  I have never done Maniwaki, but have watched it on the CRC TV shows and it looks like fun.  I am concerned with having a off, and being stuck in the freezing cold, waiting to be pulled out.  I have a suit that meets the requirments for the rules, but I don't have a helmet that works for rallying.  So there a few bumps in the road, being new to the sport and low on funds I wanted some other opinions.  This year the event falls on my B-day and I know the Fiance is planning a surprise B-day party for me, but she just dosent know that I know.  So, my big problem is Should I make the trip and go to Maniwaki or skip it this year?

Sorry if it sounds like a rant, I just would like to try this rally but I have concerns.  Just looking for some opions and guidance.

The Food & Fuel is not really a problem, neither is the taking time off work.  if anything it would only be for the friday, and I have Vacation days for that.  I accept the fact that she will get over it, as well as anyone else so that is not my big concern really.  Its either Spend my Birthday in the freezing Backwoods of Minden, or the freezing Backwoods of Quebec.  It comes down to Splitting Entry fee if the driver wants to, or spliting any other rallying costs to encure.  I had already budgeted for some ice racing, I would just move the money over to Rallying.  I don't know...I guess I still have a tough decision ahead of me.

While I'm on the Topic, does anyone have a Helmet for rent for Maniwaki.  I don't know what type of communication the car has yet, But I will find out soon.

well After a weekend of Thinking about it and disucssing it with other friends, I think I'm going to do it.  I already have my First aid course booked, and I might as well get the full year Lisence so that I can do any others in the summer if the oppertunity arises.  Thanks everyone for you thoughts and opinions, I look forward to the Perce-Neige now especially after the weekend snowfall.  Now to start the thread looking to Borrow/Rent a helmet.
