WTB: VW GTi or Suzuki Swift
12/24/7 at 16:28:56

Anyone have any leads on a good VW GTi or Suzuki Swift GT Rally Car for sale.
Looking for a Production Class rally car, i.e. not open class.

Tried searching the net but didn't turn up anything. Figured these two cars are the best & cheapest to maintain 2WD cars going.

thanks,

Try rallyclassifieds.com or http://www.specialstage.com/classifieds/.  Think I saw a Golf on the later site just the other night.

2wd production class car?  I've got a winner for ya:

1993 Toyota Paseo, fwd, 1.5l engine, manual transmission, 2200lbs
Logbooked in spring of 2005

This car won the 2006 OPRC Novice Championship, and the 2006 OPRC P2 Championship

The rollcage is FIA legal, and VERY well built by Motorsport Distributing/Hot Bits Performance

This is the ultimate beginner rally car. It's strong and reliable, easy to drive, excellent handling, affordable, easy to work on, easy to find parts, and is a very strong class contender. And if driven to its potential, is capable of great overall results as well.

It's been extremely reliable: finished 8 rallies out of 9 starts.
The only dnf was at Black Bear 2005. It was due to a worn clutch. It wasn't technically a "failure"... That was the original clutch that came with the car, it had very high milage and was worn down to nothing.

Upgrades:

Hot Bits Suspension
Custom front/rear upper suspension mounts
Front upper strut brace (recently been reinforced)
1/4" aluminum skid plate
Steel skid plate for gas tank
Lexan cover for fuel lines
Precision performance racing seats
Oil pressure/Water temp/Voltage gauge cluster
Terraphone Pro Intercom
Polyeurethane Engine mounts
Custom in-car brake lines
Exhaust converted from flexpipe to elbow joint
High-flow Cat, 2.25" exhaust system
K&N drop-in filter

Tons of gravel tires and wheels (I've yet to do an inventory on those)
Rally wheels are mostly gen 1 MR2 alloys. They are VERY strong, and perfect for this car.
Gravel tires are Silverstone, Yokohama, Michelin, and Falken in various states of wear. Ice tires are Yokohama.

There is a huge list of spare parts as well. Too many to list. I've just been collecting spares over the years, but I've never needed any of them.

Also availabe is a tow dolley. Recently refurbished, new lights, and all new wiring. Works perfectly.
It is excellent for anyone towing on a budget, it's much smaller and lighter than a full trailer, which saves on gas. Also is much easier to store when not in use. It tow's like a dream.
Will sell separately, or include with the car.

Right now, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you face him, he will beat you.
