1972 Datsun 510 Rally Car for $1,600

I have just seen this add at Kijiji

http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1972-Datsun-510-Rally-Car-...

I do not know the seller, but it could be a nice car for the Clasics division.

Pretty sure I know the seller... not sure why he's not posting it on the forums.

You are right Doug. A quick search shows that it might be Aaron aka "bandi".

Hi

If someone does buy this car, I have a surplus of Datsun 510 4 speed transmissions, rear diffs, I have some dual weber carbs for it, headers, front strut housing.  As well as many other stock parts.

Would be nice to see a 510 rallying again and here the howl of the carbs, nothing like a  induction noise.  Well maybe an Audi tubo chirp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I didn't already have an older rally car, I'd call this guy up in flash.

My question is whether a cage of that vintage would still be eligible to compete with?

I've seen this car in person, and I think, if you got all the paperwork in order (FIA homologated cage, I'm assuming) it could be possible... But thats something I'd update (you can't just modify an FIA homo cage, so you'd have to start from null)

P.s. Anthony, you don't need anything less modern!

P.p.s Dan, what the hell DON'T you have in storage? YEeeeeeesh!

I don't have a $10000000000000000000000 in storage, not even if sold  it all of for scrap metal.

But the roll cage would be an easy fix assuming the frame is not rotted, and the fact that the historic rallying is becoming very big and a lot of old cars can have really cool new parts.

Heh.  Yes, the "Georgetown Parts Shop" is an amazing resource, and I'm darned lucky to live 5 minutes away!

"Dan, have you got an STi alternator in stock?"

"I have several.  What year would you like?"

It's true!  I couldn't believe they had parts on the shelf for a '71 Opel.  I've got'em now...

HI

323 parts are in your possesion, Keith had them all, the Jen and now you.

But I do have the mold for the light pod that originally was on that car.

If you need any light pods for that car, we can make one for you.
