FYI... on sale this upcoming week... $59.99

35W HID handheld spotlight.

http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=14084...

Product #37-9430-6

Powerful, portable and rechargeable spotlight
Powerful 35W HID light source
On full charge it can project a 25-million candle beam for 60 minutes
Side mounted indicator light indicates when charging is complete
Durable, rugged design
Plugs into a 12V power supply for use and charging

I wonder how good it really is.... gotta be brighter and longer-lasting than the H3 spotlights or the H4 spotlights!

Hmmm, HID? Bulb, ballast and reflector for fiddy bucks? Its already 12 volts...

Massive ghetto cornering lights anyone? (Make a sweet pod for 'em)

(P.s. I'm saying remove the case and everything - I'm not advocating anything THAT ghetto!)

In the 1970s, we used to carry a hand held spotlight (which plugged into the cigarette lighter) in our emergency kit in the car.

It served many emergency purposes.  One year on the Canadian Winter Rally, we lost all of our light at night at the start of a stage.  I plugged the light in, held it out the window for about 10 miles (its amazing how well one can aim a hand held light around corners) and we almost won the stage. Smiley

You could mount it on a roof rack using a swivel base and attach it with rope through the side windows to your steering wheel.

That would make 'opposite-lock' soooo much cooler...

Having experienced something similar but in the late summer/early fall... I can't believe you were able to hold on that long.  Your hand must have been FREEZING!

Men were men, rollcages were scarce, and RWD was the only way to go!

I had a winter glove on my hand.  But, yes, it was still very cold.
