Plans are shaping up well for the Planet Motorsport Black Bear Rally which will be run by the Maple Leaf Rally Club on Saturday, June 13, 2009 in McArthur’s Mills, Ontario, however we still need quite a few more volunteers.

In particular we need lots of help on the day of the event - radio operators, timing marshals,  traffic control marshals and crowd control marshals will be required, however we also would appreciate more assistance on the Work Day (Saturday, May 30th) and Friday Prep/Recce day (June 12th).  

So please mark those dates on your calendar and respond ASAP to ross.wood@sympatico.ca  to confirm your attendance.

Since the venue is new this year, you need to know that Rally HQ is at the Carlow Mayo Township Community Centre on Mayo Lake Rd. in McArthur’s Mills just south of Hwy. 28 (about 25 minutes east of Bancroft on Hwy. 28).  Phone number at Rally HQ is 613-332-2380.

We will assist all volunteers to find accommodations. Some of the accommodations will be subsidized by the event.

Note – all workers will receive one T shirt, a free meal after the rally and entry in the draw for the Clearwater Design kayak.


Some of the key times that apply to workers in the weekend’s schedule are as follows:

SATURDAY, MAY 30

1100 hrs – meet at Rally HQ for Work Day assignments

FRIDAY, JUNE 12

1600-1800 and 2000-2200 hrs – Competitor Registration and Technical Inspection
1100-1600 hrs – route final preparation work
1700-2000 hrs – two pass recce

SATURDAY, JUNE 13

0700-0900 hrs – Competitor Registration & Technical Inspection (only a few needed for this)
0800-1100 hrs – Two pass recce – please advise if you are on for this
0930 hrs – GENERAL WORKER MEETING at Rally HQ
1200 hrs – Car 0 leaves HQ
1915 hrs – Car 0 arrives at Finish
2030 hrs – Awards dinner – all workers invited
