Great day as per usual!
Not as many runs as other test days, since we're a lot slower then summer time!
Deep DEEP snow in the morning, turned into proper(ish) snowbanks, water on the road (in spots) and slick as poop ice in the braking zones.
Fun road, a few tricky bits and a few scary trees that always catch me off guard. I really enjoy the fact that its only two hours from downtown TO, including a gas stop. Bancroft feels a good 50% further!
Keith Hendy, the original owner (who bought and ran the car and had it built in 98/99 - 10 years of rallying for my little mazda!) of the car came out and took the beloved mazda out for a run. I hope the juice was worth the squeeze (or as we say, it was "worth the drive to acton!")
We had snow jammed in from the engine forward - had to spend a good 10 minutes cleaning it out on at least three occasions - a whole lotta stuffin' going on.
No real damage to the car (that I have found yet!) - wheel well liner needs a screw or two, and I broke a switch/sensor clearing snow out from the engine bay, but really, no major damage! Bonus!
Got to read notes for a few runs, I think I will co-drive an event or two this year. Note: I'm a horrible driver, apparently.
Great organizer and workers as per usual! Props to Doug for towing us out of the rough countless times!
RallyX course is semi-complete and plowed, which is great news!
OH! And apologies to photog extraordinaire Tom Hayston for making him run for the hills, DSLR in tow! I swear, we were intentionally going directly towards you!
