Question for HAM Guys - ICOM Mic
11/22/10 at 13:42:54

Anyone know what the differences are between an ICOM HM-133 and HM133V mic?

The 133 is significantly cheaper than a 133V

According to this, there isn't much difference.

details on the inner workings:

Possible fixes... if yours is broken...

Sounds like they are swapable.

considering the plethora of issues this weekend with that horrible mic, and the multitude of people with the same radio and mic problems..  I'd be e-bay'ing that thing ASAP as soon as you get a working MIC on it.

I just picked up an FT-2900 literally on the way up this weekend and it was AMAZING all weekend -- 75W on a 5/8 antenna was punching through EVERY time.

Admittedly I haven't used it in a while... but I've never had problems with the mic on my Icom V8000... which uses one of the HM-133 variations.

I have never had a problem with mine until suddenly on Friday the Radio would stick on Tx. It was like I was "sitting on a mic". The only way to stop it was to unplug the mic cord from the radio.

I think I will buy a couple of HM-133's and keep one as a spare. Other than this problem, it has been a fabulous radio.

The HM_133V has lables on it for the single Band VHF only ICOM radios. The HM-133 has lables on the MIC for dual Band VHF/UHF radios.

One will work for the other, but the lables will not be right for your radio. If you use the HM-133 on a radio that came with a HM-133V, the buttons will behave as they did on the HM-133V.
