July Update v1

RACE THIS SUNDAY!!

July has come quick, and with Rallye BDC last weekend it has come up quicker than I thought it would.

Next event is this Sunday July 10th so hoping to see you all out there in force, but please do sign up online. It helps me out ordering the pizza, but you also get a discount.

SIGN UP HERE: http://www.mlrc.ca/rallycross/register/

Registration opens at 0900
Drivers meeting is at 1000
Lunch around 1300

Car Prep:

I will be cracking down on this in a big way. Please read the rules posted on at: www.mlrc.ca/rallycross

We do get noise complaints, and keeping the residents of Bancroft happy is one of the biggest jobs by MLRC. If your car is loud, it will not run.  I will have a meter on site and will not let your car run (you will get a refund)

Championship Standings:

So to remind you where you all stand, direct link:

http://www.mlrc.ca/rallycross/results/2011/2011%20Championship%20Standing.pdf

Facebook:

Don't forget that you can like the Rallycross page on Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/MLRC-Rallycross-Championship/136207409735688

And join the Club group here:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=26960690518

Workers:

If you would like to help out on the day for $40 (and not be a racer) please let me know as we can always do with the help.

Thank you
James

Sorry for taking a while to do this, but my car is in the body shop and I left the results in the trunk.

SIGN UP HERE: http://www.mlrc.ca/rallycross/register/

Please sign up for the next two events, it helps out so much and saves me a lot of time in the morning.

Car loudness:

Thank you all for keeping your car quiet on the day. We did have a meter on site and no one really went over to much.

Championship Standings:

I need some time to sort these out, but I will post soon.

Facebook:

Don't forget that you can like the Rallycross page on Facebook:

There will be an official FB Event nearer the time.

Workers:

I can never thank you enough for coming out and helping, you really make the day happen. THANK YOU! (and I am sure the $40 helps  Wink )

RALLYCROSS CONCERNS:

I have a few:

First off, at the drivers meeting I said that I wanted to get for sure 6 runs, and it would be up to you if you wanted 7.

7 Runs is only possible with support of YOU! You have to be lined up ready to go, cameras on, belts done up, windows up, helmets on and in gear when the car in front of you starts their run!  It is not hard to do this, there are numbers on your cars and we run in order. PLEASE PLEASE try and be on time for your run.

Secondly, I have heard that there was someone riding on the back of a car going from the service area to the track. And guess what? They fell off and hurt themselves. Lets not be idiots, this sport is dangerous enough so lets try and keep as safe as possible.

Rule Changes:

Some new rules / Sub Reqs will be in place for September and going forward:

  • Competitors have to run their run within 3 cars numbers of their start order or will be classed as a DNS and will not get that turn. Unless, if work is needed on the car and the driver/crew notifies HQ/Scorer (person running laptop) and then you will get up to 10 places to get started.
  • DNF notification now has to be given to HQ/Scorer (Person running laptop). If you are pulling out of the event please let the person running the laptop know so that we can keep track of who is still running.
  • Anyone seen riding on a car and not in it will have that car disqualified. No questions.
  • Timing Equipment: Finish timing equipment is classed as part of the stop box and will be included in the 1 minute penalty if hit.

I understand that these might sound harsh. Rules and safety items are in place to keep events smoothly and with no one getting hurt. If you want events like these to stay alive, we have to stay alive. Simple.

Timing Equipment:

We rented this from RSO after their very costly purchase. I believe it really helped out from a organizers perspective. But I would love to hear what you thought?

Thank you
James

September Update v1

Entry Open:

http://www.mlrc.ca/rallycross/register/

Please sign up for the next event, it helps out so much and saves me a lot of time in the morning.

Ride with CrazyLeo:

As a special treat, CrazyLeo will be on site all day for rides. We haven't fully got the logistics worked out, but you will be able to ride with one of Canada's best and fastest growing rally drivers. This will be in aid of a local Bancroft Charity, so donations will be taken. More information to come on this.

Concerns from July:

Last month we had plenty of time to have 7 runs, however people where not on time to the starting line and we only got 5 runs. PLEASE be on time and lined up for your run!

Looking forward to seeing you all very soon!!

James, you should mention to competitors about open windows. I lot of times I will see the passenger window open on the first run.

Spent most of yesterday working on the course - put 35 tons of stone and limestone screenings into the corners. It's in the best shape now that it has ever been.

There is a bit of rain in the forecast - no problem - it will improve the track, not hurt it - no dust and the surface will be tougher.

I'm excited to hear that about the course.  I can't wait to run it this Sunday.  Now, to not destroy the car before the end of the day is another story.

Excellent day of RallyCross - amazing weather, 35 entries, good competition. Bummer to those who had mechanical issues, especially some so early on. Thanks to all the volunteers for doing a great job. Three more people trained on the electronic timing system.
