Dakar & MLRC & Conor
12/08/10 at 11:45:21

With Conor Malone going to Dakar in a few weeks (and being MLRC member) I cannot find anything on the website or in the forum. Will anybody post any updates about his progress and similar info on the forum? Will anything appear on the MLRC website? (I know that this is a tall order due to the change of the volunteer personnel related to the website administration).

Thanks.......................Paul

I too hope that we get some information aout Conors run at Dakar.

Unfortunatly unless he is really good or very unlucky probably no TV coverage as they focus on front runners

Last year I followed Dakar on http://www.sbs.com.au/dakar/
looks like coverage will start Jan 3. I liked the online version as I could watch when I had the time. My wife liked at I didn't declare I am watching Dakar while she wanted Wheel of Fortune  Grin

Does Conor have a web site??
Will it be updated during the event?

Good luck Conor

Hi Paul (and all)

Here is the latest email I have recieved from their mailing list.

Hello,

Our race vehicle and support truck were loaded for shipping on October 22, 2010 (see picture on our website).  Conor leaves on November 23, 2010 for France to see the loading of the vehicles on the ASO ship for Buenos Aires.  We are leaving on Dec. 24, 2010 and will arrive on Christmas Day in Buenos Aires. Tom Frank, our builder and now co-driver will arrive a few days later, along with Troy our mechanic.  The rally starts on Jan. 1, 2011 and finishes on Jan. 16, 2010.  Glenna will be driving the support truck with Troy and will be updating the blog on our website daily (www.teamchiook.com).  For those of you who haven't heard Glenna had a bad ski accident and broke numerous bones earlier in the year.  As a result she had to change roles on the team.

For $100 you can be a sponsor of Team Chinook and put your business card on the vehicle.  Go to  http://www.teamchinook.com/how_to_help.php  for more information.

We would also like to remind you to donate to Toronto East General Hospital and Prostrate Cancer Canada. Go to http://www.teamchinook.com/charities.php for more information. A tax receipt for the full donation will be sent to you.

Thank you for your support over the last few years!  We will have big party when we get back!!!

Also, I will try to embed their blog/tweets if/when they start doing live updates.

FYI, Dean Campbell of FlatOverCrest fame has agreed to take over the webmaster duties - he is away on vacation for the next week, I'll be doing my best in the meantime, but it is exam season.

Conor's progress is here (at the bottom):
http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2011/us/rider/385.html

The stages are here (if you click the Live Track in the right top corner):
http://gaps.dakar.com/2011/dakar/

The full standing after each stage is here:
http://gaps.dakar.com/2011/dakar/stage-02/aso/ukie.php
Just change the stage number from "stage-2" in the above to get most recent stage. Once there, click the "overall" and which category you want.

Enjoy it and

When I checked on Stage 2 yesterday I could also only see the front runners. I think it was because only they had finished. You can see them now. They are down to 126th unfortunately!  Sad

Looks like Conor and Tom are finished at Dakar. Glenna blogged that the fan went and they can't get it fixed in time to to finish the stage, nor make the start tomorrow.
A great run by a privateer.
