Need. More. Snow.
(Need. More. Time. Yes, for those wondering, the rally is still happening.)
The Maple Leaf Winter Rally (MLWR) is just two weeks away, February 16-17. We've done some exploring and found some more interesting roads, which will extend the route beyond the areas that have been used the last number of years.
Registration opens at 8 pm at the Bancroft Fish and Game Club, and the first car is out at 10:01 pm, returning at about 6:15 am (unless they're stuck in a snowbank somewhere). The F&G crew will provide a great breakfast while the scores are tallied.
There will be more emphasis on driving than navigating this year. Navigators may want to read up on how to avoid motion sickness. Drivers may want to attend MCO's Sno-Cross or check out the MCO winter driving school. Total distance is ~365 km. with two gas and rest breaks at less than 150 kms. distance each.
Supplemental regulations are posted here.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3x5diX-Ci-AVi1oZ3NGYnF0Zms/edit?usp=sharingIt's a good idea to go over these in detail. Note: the link in the supps to the registration page is not currently working; I'm working to update the MLWR web page and the registration page, and I'll post again as soon as they're up and running.
Good winter tires and safety triangles are mandatory; these will be checked at registration (no, you don't have to bring the tires to the registration desk) and could also be checked on route. Not having either will result in exclusion from the event.

We also need more Checkpoint crews; gas money and breakfast included. Email as above.
Stay on the road, stay on course, stay on time,
Bruce Leonard
