2013 MLWR - Updated odo check, entries
02/12/13 at 20:05:43

There's still time to sign up for the rally. Email me directly at mlwr@mlrc.ca if you will be attending. Walk-ups welcomed, but advance notice is appreciated.

Remember, the odo check can and should be done on the way to the rally.
**** There is a slight change to the odo check instructions, listed as Appendix A in the supp regs. This difference won't matter to the novices, but will make a (slight) difference for those using a rally computer.
There is a 0.4% difference in the odo distance from what's listed. Doesn't sound like much at all, does it. But if it's 15 or 20 km between checkpoints, for example, that makes a difference of about 60 or 70 metres, which can make a 0.1 minute difference at a checkpoint. Here are the new numbers for two of the odo checks.
Hwy 28 odo check - 15.21 - now 15.27 end distance
Hwy 62 odo check - 19.93 - now 20.01 end distance
The complete revised odo check is posted here https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3x5diX-Ci-AYjMzUWoxVDc4cG8/edit?usp=sharingand will be posted and available before the rally.

The snow last week was great! The snowbanks are a good size now, though there are still opportunities for the overly-enthusiastic to go in the water. The weather looks promising - fairly cold (high -10, low -17), so dress warmly. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caon0039

Instructions are done, and will not be difficult. This is a driver's rally, but there's enough there to keep the navigator, if not busy, at least occupied. At some points, the navi might be able to catch a nap.
Remember, snow tires are a must, as is a safety triangle. Pack a winter emergency kit - blankets, food, water, shovel, candles, matches, boots If you're not wearing them.

The first break, at the end of Leg A, is not at the Fish & Game,  but there will be fuel available there, as well as at the new Shell on 28 at the end of Leg B. Total distance of the first two legs is 225 km.

As of Feb 15, we have 19 entries, with 6(!) expert crews, 2 intermediates, and 11 novices. I'm hoping for lots more.
Contrary to the supps, experts will start first, then intermediate, then novice (organizer's prerogative).
