I present my answer:

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/north-bay/2005-subaru-outback/1036691827?enab...

Unicorn!!! - Coles Notes - 05 Outback XT - 2.5L Turbo, Manual, Leather, etc.

High miles - 238k kms but only $4k.

I would own this except I just sold one to get away from the mileage and premium fuel.

If anyone is interested, I can put eyes on it. It's at a Subaru dealer 5 min from my house.

This is the kind of car I want, but my Impreza has not died yet so I will have to skip this one for now.  Someone else will have to see if it is worthy of purchase.

Okay, I went and test drove it. It has a few issues:

1. Needs a windshield
2. It has an exhaust leak near the joint at the end of the downpipe.
3. A few bubbles around the windshield.

Car looks pretty good underneath, no signs of any bad rust. One-owner car from Quebec. No Subaru dealer near their house. Still pulls hard. Turbo is clearly still making boost.

Dealer has had lots of interest. Several people have said they are coming to buy, but no one has pulled the trigger.

CarProof report comes up clear.

SWMBO would not be happy with me if I even proposed it, so I think I am out. But the want is still strong!
